Flight Instrument Guide

The Cockpit

Whether you interest is as a keen novice or experienced virtual aviator, The Flight Instrument Guide will take you through the basics of each of the most common cockpit instruments. It will show you what each instrument does and how you can simulate this in your flight simulator.

The Cockpit Instruments

Whilst concentrating on general aviation instruments many of these will be duplicated on larger, commercial and military aircraft. Light aircraft need surprisingly few instruments by law. Unless you’re flying in controlled airspace, it isn’t even required to have a radio. The standard set of instruments are arranged in a ‘T’ layout. Along the top are the Air Speed Indicator, Attitude Indicator and Altimeter, while under the
Air Speed Indicator is the Heading Indicator.
